I have an interest in reading a lot of books, but I seldom finish Chinese books because some times I struggle to fully understand what they are saying or the story gets too draggy for me to finish. However, this time, I was so captivated by this book, I finished it in 2 weeks. I heard about this book over weibo when they had the news that Kris Wu and Crystal Liu would be co-starring in a new movie of the same title "You're Still Here" aka 《原來你還在這裡》. If you have heard of the movie or book "So Young" (《至我們終將逝去的青春》) you may be familiar with the author Xin Yi Wu. I became instantly interested because being a fan of Kris, I wanted to see what kind of a movie his new project would be.... and I must say, having Crystal Liu has his co-star is a bonus. As people on weibo say this pairing of the co-stars has created the best "eye-candy" couple in movies.
The story is also about first love. So Yun Jin and Chen Zheng were classmates in high school. In their last year of senior high, both of them finally got to be in the same class together. However, Yu Jin was constantly bullied by Chen Zheng who sat behind her. Chen Zheng is smart and popular amongst classmates and because of this he often got a lot of attention. Consequently, he often puts his attention to bugging Yun Jin who is not so bright as he is and works twice as hard to get good grades. Months later, Chen Zheng finally confesses his love towards Yun Jin after an unfortunate event that happened. However, Yun Jin had always been a quiet girl and didn't directly accept Chen Zheng's love.....
We fast forward to University years and Yun Jin meets a boy who is 2 years her senior at the school library in which she worked at. Not having seen Chen Zheng for a while, Yun JIn thought that this may be the chance for her meet someone. However, Chen Zheng reappears in Yun Jin's life and of course, finally, they fall in love again. However, as they grow older, Yun Jin begins to feel too tired of Chen Zheng's love, she felt as if she was suffocating and they fall into a big fight. Though they have had many fights and arguments before, they tend to always reconcile right after. But after years of dating, it seemed that Yun Jin no longer wanted to be trapped. Sensing something was wrong, Chen Zheng felt angered and told Yun Jin that he "no longer wanted her" hence, both of them separate. Unfortunately, Yun Jin realizes she's pregnant.......
I think you can guess what happens next, I apologize for writing such a bad spoiler and summary, but there were many details I wish I could include without spoiling too much. I really enjoyed reading this book, especially when all I can picture is Kris and Crystal being Chen Zheng and Yun Jin. It is very funny, the filming of the movie for this book has started and many photos have been released of the BTS, and it makes me smile every time I see how the images I formed in my head are slowly being put to real life. If you like romance and want to read Chinese books, I highly recommend this book. I personally can't wait to see this book put on the silver screen!
